Wow! What a great day. The first annual “SAUKEN BY THE SEA” was a huge success. Over 150 Alumni showed up to give their support for the Bill Winegartner Scholarship Fund. We had alumni come from as far away as Florida, North Carolina and Wisconsin. Retired and current teachers also attended the event including Coach Vince McAneney. As a result, we were able to raise enough money to start two scholarships for students planning on pursuing their education.  

We have already reserved August 1, 2009 for next year at Flip Flopz in North Wildwood. Furthermore, we are planning a nine hole, par 3 golf outing prior to the reunion.  Also, we are attempting to secure a block of hotel rooms for the weekend next year.

Attention Alumni, Players and Friends!!  Pennsauken HS will name its football field after long-time former coach Vince McAneney on Sept. 13. The dedication is set for 11AM and the game's at Noon.  A reception dinner will follow at Savoy Caterers.  Purchase your tickets by August 22.

The football field at Pennsauken next season will be officially named after former coach Vince McAneney, athletic director Billy Wright announced last night.

"Vince McAneney is synonymous with Pennsauken football," Wright said. "When you think about Pennsauken football, you think about Vince McAneney."

And with good reason. McAneney coached at Pennsauken for 25 years before retiring in 1994. All told, he won 244 games - 192 at Pennsauken and . . .

• David Griggs (1967-), retired San Diego Chargers - played Super Bowl 1996.
• Dwight Hicks (1956-), retired San Francisco 49ers - Super Bowl winner.
• Todd McNair (1965-), USC Trojans football coach and former NFL running back for the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Oilers.
• Allen Payne (1968-), actor.
  
• John Taylor (1962-), retired San Francisco 49ers - Super Bowl winner and made winning TD catch with 0:34 left, in Super Bowl XXIII.
• Keith Taylor (1964-), retired NFL.
• William Wesley (1964-), NBA mystery man.
